Just because I am safe doesn't mean I feel safe

When a child experiences repeated trauma or complex trauma their brains respond, making them primed to recognise and respond to threat. Real or perceived.

One of the challenges that these children face is that even when they are safe, their brain and body still responds as if they were at risk.

Educators and teachers may see impacts on cognitive capacity, challenging behaviours, poor peer relationships and flight/flight/freeze responses.

Growing Futures' Trauma and Learning training will help educators to understand these behaviours and develop strategies to support children who have experienced trauma.
